What methods can be used to pay the rent?

To make the process as convenient and smooth as possible, rents can be paid in a variety of ways. You can also choose a different payment method for each rent payment! So you aren't bound to the payment method you chose when paying the first rent.

Express payment

The most common and fastest way to pay the rent and ensure, for example, the successful completion of the lease signing process (in the case of the first rent) is the express payment. You can currently pay on Flatio using the following express methods: by credit/debit card, by Apple Pay or Google Pay, and by Bitcoin.

Credit/debit card

The most used way of express payment is undoubtedly payment by credit or debit card. The payment gateway we use at Flatio supports MasterCard, VISA, and Maestro payment cards.

NOTE: We don't store payment card data, so you'll need to manually enter the card data for each additional payment of rent by card in the My Housing application.

Apple Pay/Google Pay

You can also pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay on Flatio. You'll especially welcome these payment methods if you already actively use them, for example, for contactless payments in stores.

Both services allow you to store all your payment cards in them and make a purchase with just a few clicks, without having to enter payment details. We also recommend these payment methods if you can't pay with your credit/debit card.

NOTE: Apple Pay is supported by the Apple company only in the Safari web browser. If you want to pay the rent this way, you need to open My Housing in this web browser (whether on a mobile phone or a computer).

Bitcoin

Do you have free bitcoins? Then you'll be happy to know that on Flatio you can also pay rent with this cryptocurrency. Just follow the instructions in the My Housing app!

NOTES:

  • The option to pay with bitcoin is currently only available for payments in EUR and CZK currencies.
  • The maximum payment limit for this cryptocurrency is €1,000 (CZK 25,000) per 72 hours.
  • If you need to pay an amount higher than €1,000 (CZK 25,000), please contact our Customer Care team. They'll help you solve this issue by splitting the amount into separate payments.
  • Bitcoin payment is as fast as credit card payment. If the process is done correctly, we'll receive the money immediately.
  • Flatio cannot make refunds in bitcoin or by credit card. Refunds can only be made by bank transfer. Therefore, in case of a refund, we ask you to provide us with your bank account details.

My payment was declined/canceled

If your payment is declined or canceled during the payment process, please check the following points:

  • Sufficient cash in your account
  • The daily payment limit
  • The payment limit for online payments

These are the most common reasons for declined payments and you need to contact your bank. They'll help solve the situation (even if your payment was blocked due to internal processes of your bank, e.g. due to a higher payment amount or a recipient in another country/on another continent).

Also, make sure that you've authorized the payment as part of 3D Secure payment security, either in the form of a correctly entered SMS code or by confirming the payment in your bank's mobile app/internet banking.

I can't open the payment gateway

If you can't open the payment gateway when trying to pay with an express card, there may be a problem with your browser. From experience, we know that payments are most successful with the Chrome web browser.

However, if you're using the Safari web browser, using Apple Pay may also be a solution.

Bank transfer

You can also pay the rent by bank transfer. However, we don't recommend it for the first rent payment, because it delays the conclusion of the lease signing process (the payment usually takes 2-3 working days) and increases the risk of cancelation of the reservation by the landlord themselves. When paying other rents, it's necessary to keep track of the due dates and transfer the money in time.

When filling out the bank payment order, you should be extra attentive, especially when entering the beneficiary's account number along with the bank code, the variable symbol/message for the beneficiary (these are used to correctly match the payment received with the rent due), and last but not least, the rent amount (or other information).
